Many come with the argument that if one is good then that
itself is the greatest contribution to the society, But
the fact is our good is of no use when it cannot help
someone in need, cannot give hope to someone who is
depressed, cannot bring smile to someone who is sad.
If someone is good then he/she is the one who could do
some good to the society and this is the time for action.
Some say that "I would start doing somthing to society
when I.........." But that time would never come until
we commit to do somthing to society from today. Yes
everybody is busy and running fast for their careers and
ambitions in their life, but at the same time we had that
responsibility on our shoulders to give our hand to those
who could not move forward. One need not be a Bill Gates
or Naraya moorthy or any other celebrity to do this and
one should remember that everybody cannot be a Bill Gates.
Every common man can do his bit by doing what ever he can.
Living and let living is the true meaning of life.
Some Tips: This is how I started doing somthing in small
ways to the society.
1) When somthing good happens in my life
like getting job, achieving somthing, good things happening
to my family memebers, for birthdays, annivarsaries etc, I
made it a point to do some good work for others without
expecting anything in return, As all the good things bring
happiness in my life, I decided to share that happiness with
as many people as possible.
2)I sacrifice small small comforts of mine and save that money,
like travelling in AC for long journeys, giving grand parties
for small achievements, Watching lot of movies in Malls. All
these are really small things but I feel good sacrifising these
small things because I use that money for somthing really useful.
3)Creating awareness about social issues in my own world, like
for eg. keeping a tag "Stop Child Labour" at the end of every email
I send, because many times people around may not recognize some
issues as problems that need to tackled.
No matter who we are or where we are, still there would be people
around us, who are desperately waiting for our help and it is our
duty to reach them.

The story of Govind
After nearly one year later I am publishing a post in my blog,
because something touched my heart so deeply that I felt worth
sharing. Recently I organized a picnic to some of the orphan
kids in an orphanage, who were feeling lonely during the dussera
vacation. While we are returning from the picnic, I sat with babu
(a physically challenged boy who is eldestamong all the kids) and
asking about all the other kids, then I came toknow this story of
Govind.
10 years back when govind was just months old baby,
he was found in a public dustbin to a social worker, Govind was in
that dustbin without food and water for 3 days and this damaged
his brain cells to a great extent. Today he is 10 year old
physically challenged boy with both his hands and legs crippled,
still he was going to school and pursuing his education, but slowly
things became worse to govind, slowly he started loosing his sight
and becoming blind. When doctor was consulted, he said that slowly
each part of the govind s body would stop working and then he would
die, because of the damaged brain cells.
Babu said that one day govind came to him and
expressed that he no longer wants to live and want to die as soon
as possible. Listening to those words from babu, I felt really
touched deep down in my heart,Also I felt very bad that a ten
year old boy who saw nothing in his life other than grief and
grim is waiting for his death to come. Immediately I felt like
doing something to save his life, but it is nearly impossible,
all that we can do is,give him some sweet moments in life, some
happier times to cherish and most importantly some good words
of hope. There are many govind s out there in this society
and it is our duty to reach them and bring HOPE in their lives.

I Do not waste Food Anymore....
Recently I experienced something that made me to take
a strong decision of not to waste food. Now I want to
share the same experience in this post. I go to school
in the weekends to teach children (Teach India). All
these children are from nearby slum areas whose parents
are poor. That day I am teaching UKG class about good
habits, In order to make the class interactive I started
asking questions to the children, So one after other I am
asking the question "Weather they had their breakfast or
not". A seven year old who was very active and interactive
in the class said she hadn't done. When I asked the question
why? she was silent and not even looking at my eyes. Then I
saw her eyes, they were filled with tears, Actually she was
not crying but she was feeling hungry but she is not willing
to express that food is not available at her home in the morning.
So she is waiting for the lunch that would be provided in the
school. The same kind of tears I saw in a hungry begging boy
whom we provided food instead of money. Then I realized that
only hungry people knows the value of food.
Nobody has the right to waste the food when so many people go to
sleep with empty stomach.

When we acted like responsible Citizens
This is an incident that took place few months back when me and Raghu are comming back to Gurgaon from Delhi after attending a friends party. Time was aroung 11 pm and we were on the Highway on my bike. Just before entering the gurgaon we saw few people gathering on the side lane road, after nearing that place we saw 3 people lying on the road with blood along with their bike. A woman standing in that group was saying that a car hit them and run away and that happenened just 20 minutes back. I am shocked to know that these 3 men were lying on the road for 20 minutes without any help. Few seconds i too felt hesitent to go near to them but then a thought came to my mind "What if these three persons are my friends who met with an accident and lying on the road then what would I expect from the genenal public. How i wish them to react". I too reacted in the same way . Even I do not know what I should do but still I took the initiative and moved forward towards those lying on the road. I checked their breathing and all the three where alive. I got water from the nearby place and poured it into their mouth. As they are unconsious they are not able to swallow the water , then someone from the group said to close their nose and pour the water, Some more people joined me to help me and I did the same soon those 3 people became consiuos. I tried to stop some of the vehicles to carry these people to the nearby hospital but none of them stopped their vechicle. More and More people gathered there and one of the person called the highway police and soon they arrived the spot and arranged some vehicles, we carried them into the vehicles and soon the vehicles left the place. Soon we too left the place with a great feeling that we acted with some responsibility. A great feeling which made us feel proud about ourselves.

Blood donation on the independence day
Hi Friends I am sharing a mail conversation that happened
in our college batch mets yahoo group.
hi vinay,
Good to c u r mail and Thank you for sending sending such
an informative mail to the group. Actually few days back i too
thought of writing the same kind of mail to educate about
blood donation and it's importance. I just want to add a real
story that happened 3 years back in banglore.
There was a software engineer (I do not remember his name)
who had the habbit of donating blood on his birthday and he
was doing that regularly every year for many years. One day
he met with an accident and got admitted in a hospital by then
he lost lot of blood but still he was alive when he reached
the hospital, but at the hospital there was no blood available
for his treatment. hospital authorities tried their best , but could
not get the blood on time and so that software engineer lost his
life. After knowing what happened to their friend, His friends
were virtually shocked because a person who donates his
blood for others died because of unavailability of blood, They
immediately started a website as a tribute to their friend which
would share the availability of blood in different blood banks
and also shares the urgent requirement in different hospitals.
His friends had only one motto in their mind that no person
should die because of unavailability of blood.
I saw this story in a news channel and i am moved by that
story. I realized that the reason for his death is not the accident
but the callous attitude of public, having this much population
in this country but still people die because of lack of blood is a
shame to the country itself, From then on I started donating
blood voluntarily and fulfilling my duty as the citizen of the country
From 2005 to till date I donated 7-8 times by maintaining sufficient
gap in between and I am healthy today. My blood group is O+ a
common blood group but it would have good requirement because
maximum people would have this blood group. People having
rare blood groups should not donate regularly but should
register themselves with the blood banks (not all but only
well known and reputed blood banks like Indian Red Cross etc)
because they would call u when ever there is an urgent requirement.
While donating blood in blood banks I saw how desperate people
would be to get some blood to save their dear one's. There are
some diseases, which requires the patients to continuously change their
blood at regular intervals of time. So we can say that there is huge
requirement for blood as such, in India and voluntary blood donation
saves many lives.
Kosamerupu : I even took a snap with Megastar Chiranjeevi when I
donated blood in Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust in Hyderabad :)
Thanks and Regards

Blood donation on the independence day
Guyz,
Out of the 8.5 million units of blood that is required in a year in India ,
only 5.5 million units is actually available.
*We can save life by Donating BLOOD !!! It's a small way of contributing to
the society :)*
We can make it a tradition to donate blood every year on the eve of
Independence Day !!!
You might have heard that blood donation makes you weak or that it increases
the risk of contracting HIV/AIDS or other diseases. Here are some facts
about blood donation:
- Donating blood does not make you weak.
- When you donate one unit of blood it equals 350 to 450 ml which is five
to six ltr of blood. It is however, replenished in 24 hours.
- Blood donation does not put you at risk of HIV/AIDS if you make sure
you use sterile disposable equipment.
- It reduces the risk of heart attack.

Giving Back to Society
This message is a reply to my friend that I had mailed him when he asked me to
take up my activities on regular basis...
I started these activities when I am in the final year of Btech, There is a deaf and dumb school adjacent to our college, it is run by TTD and it has children from different parts of telengana region. I visited that place with some chocolates when my brother got job. From then on I started doing small small activities now and
then that too silently because I felt shy and odd to discuss these things, because internally i had the feeling that I am doing some charity. But once when I realized that it my duty to give back to society in the best possible way. I started doing things on regular basis. Every week i plan some activity and do it. I felt that my
reach is limited and so I became Loud in saying what ever I am doing because when I am Loud I started hearing the echo from different quarters. People from different places who had this intrest in giving back to society started calling me and asking
me to guide them. In my office itself there are some of my colleagues asking me to involve them too in my activities. My activities are like a drop in a ocean, But still it is the start and now I am young and energetic and so I can involve in many different activities. In this process I came across criticism from some people and also there are instances when people made fun of me but still I am moving ahead because I am convinced that whatever I am doing is right. I got the support and encouragement from majority of people. If a few words in a quote can influence my thinking then I think few actions of mine would definitely have an impact on thinking of some people.

This is how I celebrated 27th BirthDay
On July 19 th 2008 I celebrated my 27th Birthday. I planned it carefully and executed it perfectly, I had taken
up certain activities and made this B'day very special in my Life. I am sharing my activities.
Activity 1 : I had presented new clothes to our cook, who is working for us for the past one year, Gifts to people who are working for us sincerely, would definitely make them happy. He was Happy.
Activity 2 : There is a Hanuman Temple near to my House, where a group of working young people (Esp Software Engineers)started food distribution program (Bhandar) on Tesday and Thrusday nights for the poor people(riksha wallah's, maids and other people doing petty jobs in shops etc). I too joined as sevak in that group and on my B'day I contributed some money for the same.
Activity 3: Planted a mango tree plant in front of our House. During my school days one of my teacher said "If everybody plants a tree plant on their B'day's it would be sufficient to make this entire area green" I still remember it but it took me 27 years to Implement the same but I am sure that I would continue it in the
future too.
Activity 4: I am also associated with one of the Blind Hostel in Delhi which runs on the public donations itself, I donated some amount to dinner for one day for all the visually challenged people in the Hostel. Also I had one Visually challenged friend in the Hostel whose name is Amit (Pg in English literature Delhi University, BED,MED )and presently doing his PHD had his tape recorder (Which he uses for his study
by listening to the lessons which were recorded) got repaired and it is hindering his study, I got it repaired and gifted it to him. He was really happy.
Activity 5: In the evening I took a cake, some snacks and cool drinks to an Orphanage( for mentally and Phisically challenged children) . I cut the cake when these children sang the Birth Day song to me. After we took snacks and cakes , I sang with them, danced with them, played with them, listened to all that they are trying to say to me. At the end when I am trying to leave that place these children hugged me and said not to go and asked me when I would come again to meet them. All the children enjoyed the Bday party to a great extent and myself at the top of the world by looking happiness in their faces.
Activity 6: On my personel front I had taken a resolution to work on two of my weakness which I identified that exists in me and decided to check them by my next Birthday on how far I was able to overcome my weaknesses.
One thing that I could not do on this B'day is donating Blood which I generally do on my Bday because 3 months back itself I had done voluntary blood donation.
Iam sharing all this, Not for any appreciate and not that I feel that I had done a great thing but instead I feel that I had done the right thing. One Special day that comes every year regularly in everyone's life is one's birthday, If we are
able to make it really special with some purposeful deeds then that birth day would become memorable in our life,
Note: Please do not donate money to Beggars in the name of charity, this is just encouraging people to take up Begging as the Profession.
